DISC profile

DC The DC profile: Dominance and Conscientiousness

You want it changed, and you want it right.

Your two elevated dimensions are Dominance — the drive to take control, decide quickly and push through resistance — and Conscientiousness — the pull towards accuracy, evidence and standards that hold up when someone examines them.

That is a demanding combination, and it argues with itself. Where a high D on its own would decide and move on, your C insists that the decision survive examination. And where a high C on its own would keep examining, your D forces the matter to a close. You want the change and you want it correct, and you are rarely willing to trade one for the other.

What this combination gives you

  • Problems get named early and then actually solved
  • You raise the objection nobody else in the room will raise
  • Standards hold under time pressure, because you refuse to trade them away
  • Broken things get rebuilt properly instead of patched again

What it costs you

  • People hear correction long before they hear anything else, and they stop volunteering ideas
  • You decide quickly, then use your rigour to defend the decision rather than to test it
  • Anyone slower or less prepared feels judged, and brings you only finished work, or nothing
