DISC profile

DS The DS profile: Dominance and Steadiness

You push hard, and you push in one direction.

Your two elevated dimensions are Dominance — the drive to get results, take control and move directly at a problem — and Steadiness — the preference for a consistent pace, loyalty and a settled environment.

Those two do not sit comfortably together, and that is the most useful thing this report can tell you. One of them wants to change the situation now; the other wants the situation to hold still. What the pairing produces is force applied slowly: you are not the person who reacts fastest, you are the person who is still pushing in the same direction long after everyone else has stopped. That is rare, and it is expensive when the direction is wrong.

What this combination gives you

  • You finish the hard things other people quietly abandon
  • Pressure does not make you louder or less reliable
  • You will hold an unpopular position for as long as it takes
  • People know exactly where you stand and that it will not move

What it costs you

  • Once you have committed, new information has to fight to reach you
  • You are brief and serious, so people read ordinary determination as displeasure or blame
  • You tolerate a poor situation for a long time and then end it suddenly, with no warning that others could see
